A chara, - In response to Michael Drury (August 27th), and on behalf of Ógra Shinn Féin, I would like to answer his question regarding Sinn Féin's overtures to make the Tricolour appealing to Unionists.
Sinn Féin has often explained the true meaning of the Tricolour to our unionist countrymen and has repeatedly pointed out the fact that both traditions are represented equally within the flag.
In a broader sense Sinn Féin has often sought to liaise with unionist community leaders on a variety of issues, including interface areas and Orange marches, but our offers of dialogue are nearly always rebuffed. The main unionist party, the DUP, has continually refused to engage with Sinn Féin, thus making any meaningful dialogue impossible. - Is mise,
