Sir, - The Japanese are great fish eaters and their favourite fish is tuna. Indeed, Tokyo boasts of restaurants which sell nothing but tuna. The figure quoted by Lorna Siggins on Saturday of £15 sterling per kg is very different to the price quoted by the BBC Tokyo correspondent only last week who, after describing the auctioning of a particular species of tuna for almost $400 dollars per kg said that the average price was between $100 and $200 per kg. Now, that's the sort of money that will persuade fishing fleets to sail 9,600 miles to catch Atlantic tuna. Yours etc.,

Lorna Siggins writes: Mr Kelly doesn't say whether the BBC Tokyo correspondent was quoting fresh or frozen prices. I was quoting frozen. Fresh prices can run to infinity.
