A chara, – Recently, when going to open the glasshouse, I found a dead swift on the ground and disposed of it. Two days later I found another one, but it was alive. It seemed to be okay so I threw it up to give it a flying start. Immediately it was attacked by a screaming starling. Both swifts and starlings nest in the roof of our house. To me it seemed the starling was trying to slow down the swift below the minimum speed to stay airborne. This continued for about 20 seconds and when the pair came I waved at the starling and it flew off. I was wondering if the dead swift was also brought down the evening before I found it? The occurrence was most unusual. – Is mise,
