Madam, - I note from a recent edition of The Irish Timesthat Dublin Bus feels it necessary to remind people about not smoking via an audio announcement every 15 minutes.
Does anybody actually think these announcements will have an effect on people who smoke on buses? In my experience those choosing to smoke tend to be sufficiently lost in the depths of their headphones that they won't hear the messages. Meanwhile, the recordings will serve only to irritate those of us trying to read your good publication quietly in the corner. - Yours, etc,
