SMOKING ON BUSES

Madam, - As a regular commuter with Dublin Bus, could somebody please enlighten me about the law regarding smoking on buses? I cannot remember the last occasion I was on a bus when smoking did not take place. Even one passenger smoking will pollute the entire bus, both upstairs and downstairs.

I would like to know the answers to the following questions:

(a) What is the ruling with regard to smoking on buses? I seem to recall that smoking was banned completely and that a hefty fine applied to those caught smoking.

(b) Is it up to the inspector, the bus driver or to those passengers offended by the breach of the rule to report such matters? - Yours, etc.,
