Sir, - Not so long ago, a Minister for Finance scoffed at the idea of a tax amnesty. He estimated that £30m was all it would bring into the Exchequer: £680m was the total collected. Mr De Rossa stated earlier this year that the level of abuse of social welfare fraud was "miniscule" minimum annual cost is now estimated at £250m a year. No problems.
