Software coding and learning

Sir, – The argument that everyone should be able to write software code – and therefore the solution to all our economic woes and parental fears is readily at hand – is deeply flawed and akin to arguing that everyone should be able to mix concrete ("Stephen Wolfram tells SXSW anyone should be able to code", March 17th).

Where is the innovation and creativity that turns software code into a designed application that is both beautiful and useful?

Importing an analogy from Ireland’s experience with developers of another kind – being able to lay bricks in a straight line does not turn you into an architect. – Yours, etc,
