Sir, – Minister for Health Leo Varadkar spoke on RTE's Prime Time programme recently about a worldwide shortage of 1.2 million nurses.
I know we can’t solve that global problem, but I live by the mantra, “If you take care of the small things the big things take care of themselves”.
I currently employ 18 qualified nurses as care assistants in our nursing home. Overseas nurses are waiting up to 10 months for their NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) registration.
