Madam, - My delivery from Tesco Online arrived with Israeli oranges; they were listed as Valencia (roi) on the website. I sent them back with the delivery truck.
What I didn't notice were the two packets of Tesco brand potatoes, both new and baked, also of Israeli origin.
Purchasers should be aware that some online retailers are not specifying the country of origin on the website.
Why would Tesco sell Israeli potatoes in Ireland?
I have often defended Tesco from much of the anti-British nonsense here in Ireland but I find this sick pursuit of profit to be indefensible and unacceptable. I believe that if Tesco were up-front and honest about it, most of their customers would prefer not to buy Israeli produce, regardless of the savings to be had.
There is no point in appealing to the better nature of the Israeli government to stop their continuing mistreatment of the Palestinian people - no such better nature exists.
Sanctions worked against South Africa and it will work against Israel: boycott their goods. - Yours, etc.,
