Madam, - Brian P Ó Cinnéide (November 21st) suggests that the South African government should spend some of the money it has earmarked for the World Cup on improving housing for its people.

What I wonder is why 300 people from Ireland are in Cape Town building simple houses for Khaylitsha when there are thousands of unemployed workers living in the same township who presumably would be more than happy to build houses for themselves and their neighbours if they were given the building materials being used by the well-meaning Irish. - Yours, etc,
