Sir, - The appeal by Richard Roche (May 6th) and Donal O'Morain (May 10th) for the 798 insurrection not to be represented in sectarian terms is something that those of us associated with the Byrne/Perry Summer School (Gorey, June 28th to 30th) strongly support. This year, with the help of acknowledged expert speakers from the US, Austria, the UK as well as Ireland, we will be examining "The Women of 98".
We also inaugurate this year, with the blessing of his family, the annual Gordon Wilson Memorial Lecture, to be delivered by Albert Reynolds TD. A panel discussion on the theme "Women in Ireland Today" will hopefully explore contemporary connections and implications of the summer school topic. Yours, etc.,
Chairman,
St Patrick's,
Gorey,
Co Wexford.
