Speed cameras

Sir, – A few days ago, I encountered a speed-check van on an 80km/h road from Skerries to Lusk in Dublin. Several cars flashed at me beforehand to warn me. The car immediately behind me then proceeded to flash his lights at every car we passed for the next two kilometres!

Do these flashers ever stop to think that while they assist some drivers in escaping a couple of penalty points they are at the same time helping to defeat the Road Safety Authority’s attempts save lives?

As a counter-campaign, perhaps we should consider flashing our lights when there are no speed cameras around! – Yours, etc,

NOREEN HAMILTON,
