Madam, - To date no Section 25 Certificate has been issued in respect of the proposed devlopment at Spencer Dock. Dublin Docklands Authority (DDA) is presently assessing Treasury Holdings' application for the development.
A Section 25 Certificate issue presupposes a 20 per cent social and affordable housing inclusion. Residents' associations on Dublin's North Wall have expressed concern that the 20 per cent quota for Spencer Dock will be situated in one complex to the rear of Abercorn Road, off Sheriff Street. In effect, they believe this would lead to residents of this complex being "ghettoised".
Clearly, such a move would fly in the face of the spirit of DDA's stated position on social inclusion. Does anyone else find it strange that neither Treasury Holdings nor DDA is able to confirm where, within the proposed complex, Spencer Dock's social housing will be situated? - Yours, etc.,
