Madam, – Leo Varadkar should consider the untaxed €15,000 unvouched expenses his TD colleagues enjoy when commenting on the taxed AIB €2,500 club membership staff benefit (Home News, August 11th). Taking the politician’s view, one presumes he would also support the removal of all perks enjoyed by civil and public servants and allocate the savings to health, education and social welfare or indeed lower electricity and gas bills for the disadvantaged.
If Mr Varadkar really wants to be part of the solution, he needs to focus on more important issues and not sensational spin. – Yours, etc,
