Sir, - I am concerned at the reference in your Editorial of September 30th to the appointment by An Tanaiste of "an accountant from outside the jurisdiction" as a High Court inspector and that this "tells its own story". For the record, your readers may wish to note that Mr Paul Rowan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. You refer also to the Blayney Inquiry from which a final report is awaited and you comment that "no sanctions have been imposed against members". The Blayney Inquiry is a thorough and comprehensive investigation. I would have thought it was obvious that the question of sanctions can arise only when the report is complete.
Your Editorial writer seems to believe it should be the other way around. - Yours, etc.,
Brian Walsh, Chief Executive, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, Pembroke Road, Dublin 4.
