Sir, – Further to "State must limit spending and budget like a family" (Opinion & Analysis, August 14th), you would be doing the State (and your readers) a genuine service if every time you gave John Bruton a pulpit from which to preach his mantra of perpetual austerity, you included in his byline the phrase "John Bruton – State pension of €365 a day". – Yours, etc,
