Madam, - On a recent family tour of the various historical sites of Dublin, I was amazed to see that the once impeccable Leinster Lawns are now being used by our hard-pressed public servants as a car park. This car park was installed when the Dáil Éireann extension was being carried out over six years ago, and as far as I remember was a "temporary solution" for use during the construction period.

We, the hard-working public, are being told we will have to apply for special permission to pave our front gardens, while our Government park their cars for free on a tarmac surface on the garden of Leinster House.

This is unacceptable. In this day of Green Party government and taxing of city car parking I think that the Government should lead by example and reinstate this lawn immediately. - Yours, etc,

ANDREW PAUL,
