Madam, - I brought my 17-year-old son to St Columcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown on Friday, July 2nd at 11 p.m. after he fell off his bicycle, suffering injuries to his head, face, teeth, arms and legs.

I waited for three-and-a-half hours for somebody to see him after informing the reception on several occasions that he was in considerable pain and discomfort.

In light of your recent headlines about the Exchequer surplus of over €1 billion for the first six months of the year, perhaps some of this money could find its way to the ailing health system. - Yours, etc.,
