Sir, - Congratulations to Victoria White on her very balanced article on stay-at-home mothers. It was so refreshing to read the "other side of the story" put so clearly.
One further point which I thought she could have made is the extent to which those who make the choice to stay at home and mind their children are now being penalised by the individualisation tax policies of Mr McCreevy. Presumably Mr McCreevy will continue in the forthcoming Budget ON the path he has vowed to follow.
Is it too much to hope that media commentators will highlight the extent to which recent Budgets have allocated the benefits of the Celtic Tiger - now rapidly losing his stripes - disproportionately between one-income and two-income households (with or without children).
This would encourage the electorate to voice their opinion in the following election. - Yours, etc.,
