Stone on the Late Late Show

Madam, - My, how things have changed at Montrose. Some years ago the president of Sinn Féin, Mr Gerry Adams, in an attempt to secure all-party peace talks, was invited on to the Late Late Show. On entering, Mr Adams offered his hand to presenter Gay Byrne, who refused to accept it. Furthermore, on leaving the show Mr Adams again offered his hand to Gay Byrne, and again he was ignored.

Last Friday Michael Stone, a multiple murderer, was warmly welcomed by the Late Late Show host Pat Kenny and audience alike. And Michael Stone's reason for being on the Late Late Show? To promote his new book. The mind boggles. - Yours, etc.,
