Sir, - Yesterday I went to the RDS in Ballsbridge to use the library. On my arrival I found groups of older schoolchildren enjoying the sunshine on the grass in front of the main entrance, taking time out from the Irish Times Senior Options Conference. What amazed and annoyed me was the garbage they caused. Everywhere there were discarded bags from the conference, newspapers, crisp packets, chip papers, plastic bottles, cans and even sandwiches.
There were bins provided, but mostly unused. Do their respective schools not teach them anything about respecting and preserving the environment? - Yours, etc.,
