Stung at the Shelbourne

Madam, - Rip-off Ireland is alive and well

Madam, - Rip-off Ireland is alive and well. My sisters and I visited the newly refurbished Shelbourne Hotel recently and were charged €38 for two glasses of white wine - a very average Sancerre. At €19 a glass, this equates to €95 per bottle. My local wine merchant sells this wine at €17 per bottle retail.

It's not only the Galway water that is likely to damage our tourism industry this year. - Yours, etc,
