Suitless and suitable for the Dáil

Madam, – Regarding our newly elected TDs, the “dapper” debate has already opened.

Madam, – Regarding our newly elected TDs, the “dapper” debate has already opened.

As economic and fiscal annihilation looms ever closer, can we please ignore our TDs’ sartorial elegance or lack thereof (depending on one’s perspective).

We’ve had the “suits” for years. In fact, they created our present problems (to use a mild description) but they failed to solve them. It is unlikely that the “suitless” will be successful either; but, at least, let us save our energy for one last push before we default, rather than waste air time and print space on ties, hair length and such.

Anyway, some individuality would make a refreshing change from the homogeneous Dáil males who looked the same, sounded the same, and, eventually thought the same, eg, “Say Yes to Lisbon for jobs!”. We all know what has happened to Lisbon and the jobs. – Yours, etc,

MARY HORGAN,

Castletreasure,

Douglas,

Cork.
