Madam, - In his review of the dance year Michael Seaver states that International Dance Festival Ireland has not yet commissioned a major work from an Irish or international choreographer (Arts, December 14th). Whereas the festival, in what is still its infant stages, has not yet undertaken the commission of a major international work its commission of Rex Levitate's full-length dance piece Resuscitate was indeed a major commission for any international festival.

This commission involved a substantial financial, time and emotional investment over two years and it follows a number of smaller commissions over the past two festivals that highlight the festival's strong commitment to supporting both established and emerging Irish choreographers. - Yours, etc.,
