Sir, – Since only parents in receipt of child benefit are eligible to fill in the school patronage survey, the hundreds of thousands of Irish parents currently living outside the State are denied the opportunity to state their preference.
Is the assumption that all of those who have migrated will never return and, therefore, do not deserve to have an opinion on their children’s future education? On the contrary I would suggest that some parents stay away due to the lack of education options currently available in Ireland.
However, we have no chance to have our voices heard on how we would like the future of education to evolve. – Yours, etc,
