Sir, – It must be truly wonderful to be as knowledgeable and self-confident as Darragh Ó Sé ("It's hard to feel sympathy for Mayo", September 9th). How I envy him!
In the light of all this talent, it seems a great shame to read of “drowning their sorrows and dodging down back streets looking for a quiet corner to cry into their pints”.
What a horrible image he paints. I’m not from Mayo nor have I any connections with it but I sincerely hope the players are not dodging anywhere. I hope they are holding their heads high, safe in the knowledge that they gave it their very best shot on the day. It’s called sport, Darragh. – Yours, etc,
