Sir, – Dr Jacky Jones's article on the television programme Operation Transformation hits the nail on the head ("Operation Transformation is only entertainment", Health + Family, January 26th).
The food industry and its policies need to be targeted if we are ever going to tackle the obesity problem. Placing the blame on overweight and obese individuals merely plays into this powerful group’s hands.
A sugar tax, as well as a strong focus on the provision of affordable, natural and nutrient-dense foods, should now become the Government’s priority if we are to see true progress in this area. – Yours, etc,
