Madam, – It seems somewhat ironic that a report on plans for a new research centre for social policy at NUI Galway which aims to “impact positively on future policies for children” should appear in your newspaper on the same day (March 4th) as an article outlining the tragic life and death of Tracey Fay.
Considering the Constitution contains five articles dedicated to the well-being of children and that Ireland formally ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child almost 20 years ago, one is left wondering if it is more research we need, or simply action. – Yours, etc,
