Sir, – How very charitable of the banks to start stocking ATMs with smaller denomination notes (Front page, April 22nd). Now instead of paying 28 cent to withdraw the typical minimum €20, the poor with Bank of Ireland can now pay 28 cent for their tenners, a doubling of the percentage cost from 1.4 per cent to 2.8 per cent. It’s all about the customer of course. – Yours, etc,
Dr MAIT O FAOLAIN,
Beechwood Court,
Stillorgan, Co Dublin.
