Madam, - The revelations emanating from the investigation into the Taoiseach's personal finances have, once again, afforded us an insight into the murky world of large cash payments, false invoices and various other questionable transactions.
As time goes on the whole affair is becoming more and more like a theatrical farce in which members of the cast spin implausible yarns, contradict each other and sometimes contradict themselves.
Such unseemly behaviour in high places does nothing to enhance our image as a mature democracy but rather reinforces the opinions of those who like to regard this State as a banana republic. - Yours, etc,
