Madam, - I assume the Taoiseach pays benefit-in-kind tax on the €482 per week in make-up services which he receives from his employers. And if not, why not?

Madam, - Last month Minister for Education Mary Hanafin accused my generation of being too materialistic and caring more about celebrities than politics. Having said this, how can she justify the Taoiseach spending €480 a week on make-up? Is this not a double standard where she is concerned?
Should we follow the example of the man who is running our country, or should we turn a blind eye? I guess in this circumstance beauty is in the eye of the beholder - and the outlook is not so pretty from here!
- Yours, etc,
TARA MONAGHAN, Sherlockstown, Sallins, Co Kildare.
