Sir, – The driver took us from Dublin’s O’Connell Street to St Stephens’s Green. In that short distance, he managed to tear asunder the entire island of Ireland and gave us the story of the boom, the bust and the people who ruined it. When I thought he could not possibly hate anymore (be it State bodies or individuals), he summed up his feelings: “If we could just get rid of the Government, and then kick out all the bloody women, wouldn’t we be a grand country?” – Yours, etc,
