Sir, - When the ASTI settles its problems with the Department of Education, it, the INTO and the TUI might turn their attention and energies to implementing the expressed wishes of the majority of members as indicated over 20 years ago: the creation of one teachers' union to represent primary and postprimary sectors.
The cost savings to members will be substantial - but much more importantly, one new organisation would represent the profession. The leadership of all three unions has given scant attention to the expressed wishes of members. No marks awarded for working out why! - Yours, etc.,
