Sir, - Why is it so important that the Government, the ICTU the TUI and the INTO keep a lid on the pension scam that is part of the PPF? In an excellent article (Irish Times, January 4th) Paddy Healy highlighted the Fitzpatrick, report which recommended the introduction of "non-core" ie "non-pensionable", pay for the public service.
This will have a major effect on present and future pensioners. In fact, it has already been acted upon, as pensioners were denied that 1 per cent lump sum in the recent national deal.
The ASTI is trying to look after its pensioners, while others seem happy to collude in this "invisible" pension scam. - Yours, etc.,
