Sir, - As a worker in the IT industry, I noted the hankering last year of many ASTI members for the benefits of my job. We haven't heard too much about that recently, but then the economic downturn followed by the effects of September 11th haven't caused teachers to be laid off by the hundreds. I trust they have since reflected a bit more deeply on how much their (absolute) job security is worth.
While I'm on the subject, could I appeal to the ASTI on behalf of the beleaguered IT sector to please resume doing whatever you were doing that brought about the Celtic Tiger? - Yours, etc.,
