A Chara, - I must take issue with Owen Corrigan's bizarre assessment (March 18th) that "promiscuity and sexually transmitted diseases are simple, undeniable facts of life".
To suggest that teenage abstinence is "moral idealism that is, at best, unworkable" is simply not true. I never had sex as a teenager, and it was not "dangerous" for me. I am glad, as a young man who has decided not to have sex until marriage, that promiscuity and STDs are not a part of my life, and I would encourage my peers not to give in to this irresponsible, spoilt-child thinking that suggests that we cannot control our sexual urges. - Is mise,
