Sir, I would like to alert your readership to Telecom Eireann's astonishing proposal to erect two 100 foot masts carrying huge parabolic discs in the Glendalough area. The integrity of Glenalough, a major tourist destination and a psychic lung for Dubliners all year round, is being threatened, by these masts, which are surely in direct contravention to all existing county and government guidelines for areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Are we a nation so lacking in vision that we would blindly barter our inheritance for this latest technological bauble? I would urge all concerned to call a moratorium on this proposal development while alternatives to these huge masts are explored.
I think we need to wake up to what is and preserve the ancient and sacred integrity of the Glendalough area. - Yours, etc.,
Knockrath,
Rathdrum,
Co. Wicklow.
