Madam, – While leaving a sticky Cork University Hospital on Thursday having visited a family friend, I was drawn to an open window to seek out some fresh air. To my utter disbelief the radiator beneath said fuinneog was piping hot. I thought this unlikely pairing to be a wild card and moved 10ft to the next duo, only to find the same bewildering occurrence. I found the heat of eight further radiators being instantly vented through openings in the above double glazing.
This scenario is archetypical of our health service; an ailing HSE presents with fever and instead of seeking out the cause we simply open a window.
Treating symptoms rarely cools any situation. – Yours, etc,
