A chara, – Aisling Twomey’s defence of Ruairí Quinn’s attendance at Margaret Thatcher’s funeral (April 23rd), that it was “the routine fulfilment of diplomatic duty”, misses the point. If the Government had to be represented, why couldn’t one of the Fine Gael Ministers, some of whom would be quite comfortable with Mrs Thatcher’s ideology, have fulfilled the role?
