Sir, – Having been a member of Siptu for many years, I was shocked to learn that it has called for pro-abortion legislation, and that it supported the recent rally in favour of legislating for the X case. I immediately left Siptu, since my money will never go to any group that lobbies against the right to life. I call on all pro-life Siptu members to either take the same step or, if they remain within the union, to campaign for this pro-abortion stance to be changed. Trade unions should be about protecting human rights, not about militating against the most fundamental human right of all. – Yours, etc,
