Sir, – Emer O'Toole says that she supports "abortion on demand" if it means "universal access to safe, legal abortion into the second trimester of pregnancy" ("Abortion on demand – an apocalyptic vision of Ireland 2021", January 11th).
For the United States, “abortion on demand” meant creating a society where over 50 million abortions have taken place, and where those seeking meaningful legal protection for unborn children have been thwarted at every turn by the abortion laws in place.
Is this what Emer O’Toole wants for Ireland? – Yours, etc,
