Sir, – Listening to Fine Gael TDs speaking about Mick Wallace’s Bill in Dáil Éireann, their main reason for opposing it was because it was “unconstitutional”, and that’s fine. But they might also have considered it objectionable because it’s unjust, immoral or unethical. That Bill discriminates against those whose lives are likely to be short, those with disabilities. Of late the political classes have enthused about equality and children’s rights, and now they want to repeal the Eighth Amendment that combines equality and children’s right in one article. Dismal inconsistency. – Yours, etc,
