Madam, - Monday night's RTÉ documentary on the end of the St Legers' reign at Doneraile Court shows the unfortunate underhand actions of our State via the Irish Land Commission in their drive to nationalise the land.
The end of this sorry story is that the magnificent Doneraile Court now lies empty and in very poor condition, even more tragically without its wonderful contents gathered by generations of the St Leger family.
The minimum the State owes this great house is to ensure it is preserved and restored before it is too late.
Future generations will not look kindly if State continues to fail this important part of built heritage. - Yours, etc,
