Madam, - We decided to go to Tipperary recently for a couple of days' hill-walking. Parts of the Galtees and Slievenamon were ablaze, covering large areas of the hills and the Golden Vale with smoke.
Will the IFA identify the culprits (if same are farmers)? Doubtful. Will prosecutions follow? Unlikely. Will the Minister for the Environment take action? Also unlikely, unless there's a photo opportunity. Will we be walking/staying in the region again? No.
