Sir, - In response to Douglas Dalby (October 30th), I believe I may have the solution. As a cyclist I also suffer the invisibility problem on a daily basis. However, after being hit by a truck on the quays some weeks ago the driver informed me that he would not have hit me if I had been wearing a helmet, a prime example of panic reactions.
I would like to thank that driver for making me see the error of my ways. I have since stopped wearing a luminous cycling jersey as it is obviously useless and have replaced it with a helmet. - Yours, etc.,
Tony Woods, Blackpitts, Dublin 8.
