Madam, - It is strange that Judge John Neilan thinks "dumping on", an expression the Minister for Justice denies using, has something to do with defecation (The Irish Times, December 21st). Webster's Dictionary gives these definitions: "Dump on: (a) to criticise harshly; abuse; (b) to unload one's problems on (another person)."

The good judge may not have learned this colourful expression wherever he was educated. I confess I didn't, but I was taught how to consult a dictionary. - Yours, etc,
