Sir, - John Waters refers to abortion as the only element of the liberal agenda which remains to be implemented (Opinion, October 28th). In your editorial of the following day you say that this is now a post-liberal society and that the struggle to achieve inclusiveness and pluralism is history.
These are astonishing statements.
Primary education is still overwhelmingly under the control and ethos of religious denominations, the Catholic Church in particular. In the vast majority of cases parents have no choice within the so-called "National School" system.
The aspiration to freedom of choice in this vital area is a human rights and liberal issue based on standards accepted as normal throughout the European Union. - Yours, etc., B. Hove,
