Madam, - I was delighted to read (Motors, February 22nd) that members of the Oireachtas Transport Committee got up from their seats to study road safety policies abroad. Then I did a "double take" as I read on. Where did they visit? Liverpool? Maybe a bit further, Glasgow? Maybe a trip to the Continent - Paris perhaps?
This is hard to believe, but four of them went to Australia and visited Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. And all, Madam, at our expense. We must, of course support every reasonable effort to improve road safety, but I for one draw the line at junkets to Australia. - Yours, etc,
W.J. MURPHY, Malahide, Co Dublin.
