Madam, - I think it is very unfair of you to allow people to display their lack of knowledge and silly prejudices in your letter columns.

Last February I pointed out - in a letter you did not deem worthy of publication - that Article 2 of the Republic of Ireland Act, 1948 made the official name of the State Poblacht na hÉireann/The Irish Republic.

This is, apparently, unknown to the patriotic Ms Mary O'Reilly, as shown by her letter of April 4th on the new all-Ireland travel passes. - Yours, etc,
