Sir, - I wonder if people in Dail Eireann are aware that Padraig Pearse's family home at 27 Pearse Street is in danger of being knocked down, and are they going to save it?
We have already lost Robert Emmet's house, which could be reinstated on the site in Stephen's Green, and Austin Clarke's house has gone. Miss Katherine Tynan's house is in serious danger of being destroyed.
May I say there is no point in Dail deputies saying they want to build a tourist industry if they keep allowing the destruction of our architecture and buildings of historic interest, and with it the loss of our national identity. - Yours, etc.,

PS: People in Finland have said to me on several occasions: "You Irish will regret terribly what you are doing to your country by destroying your buildings and exporting historical artefacts, furniture, fireplaces, paintings, silver etc". I could not agree more.
